Redirect Supply vs Spaceship URL redirect: Page-level control, on any DNS
Spaceship's free URL redirect is a solid start: 301, 302, or frame redirects, with free SSL so HTTPS visitors land safely. But each domain or subdomain points to one destination, and new redirects only work with Spaceship DNS. Redirect Supply maps every old page to its own new URL, works with records at any DNS provider, and shows you the traffic, while your domain stays registered at Spaceship.

Why Redirect Supply
Choose Redirect Supply for redirects that stay out of your way. Every old URL lands on the right page, every domain runs on HTTPS, and nothing breaks when your website moves.
Spaceship redirect or Redirect Supply? The short answer
Keep Spaceship's URL redirect if one domain simply points to one page and your DNS is managed by Spaceship.
Switch to Redirect Supply if pages have new addresses, you're merging sites, or your DNS runs somewhere else, like Cloudflare. The free plan covers your first domain, and your registration stays at Spaceship.
For a redesign or rebrand, that makes it a Redirect Supply job.
FAQs
Questions about Spaceship redirects and Redirect Supply
Does Spaceship's URL redirect support HTTPS?
Yes. Since 2024, Spaceship includes free SSL on its 301, 302, and frame redirects. The difference with Redirect Supply isn't security; it's control: every old page can go to its own new URL, and you see the traffic behind each domain.
Why doesn't my new Spaceship redirect work with custom nameservers?
Since December 2025, new URL redirects at Spaceship only work with Spaceship DNS. Redirects created earlier on custom DNS stay active. Redirect Supply works with records at any DNS provider, so you can keep your nameservers wherever they are.
Can Spaceship redirect different pages to different URLs?
Spaceship redirects a domain or subdomain to one destination. To send /services to /work and /blog/* to /journal/*, you need path-level redirects, included on every Redirect Supply paid plan from $6 a month billed yearly.
Should I use Spaceship's frame redirect?
A frame redirect keeps your old domain in the address bar and loads the destination inside it. Search engines treat that with suspicion, and it can break on sites that block framing. For SEO, use a real 301 redirect. Read more about masked redirects.
Do I need to transfer my domain away from Spaceship?
No. Your domain, renewals, and pricing stay at Spaceship. Redirect Supply only handles the redirects through the DNS records you add. See the DNS setup guide.
How do I switch a Spaceship domain to Redirect Supply?
Add your domain in Redirect Supply and copy the records it shows. In Spaceship, remove the URL redirect and any conflicting A or CNAME records, then add the new ones. Redirects go live once DNS propagates.
