Redirect Supply vs Namecheap URL redirect: HTTPS included, no hosting needed
Namecheap's URL redirect record forwards a domain with a 301, a 302, or a masked frame. For HTTPS visitors, though, Namecheap needs an SSL certificate installed on the old domain, which a redirect-only domain rarely has. Redirect Supply issues that certificate automatically and adds path rules and analytics, while your domain stays registered at Namecheap.

Why Redirect Supply
Choose Redirect Supply for redirects that stay out of your way. Every old URL lands on the right page, every domain runs on HTTPS, and nothing breaks when your website moves.
Namecheap redirect or Redirect Supply? The short answer
Keep Namecheap's URL redirect if a single spare domain points to one page and nobody reaches it over HTTPS.
Switch to Redirect Supply if your old domain was ever shared with https://, if pages need to land on their exact replacements, or if your DNS isn't at Namecheap. The free plan covers your first domain, HTTPS included.
For a rebrand or migration, that makes it a Redirect Supply job.
FAQs
Questions about Namecheap redirects and Redirect Supply
Does Namecheap's URL redirect work with HTTPS?
Only in some cases. Namecheap's documentation says HTTPS redirects to another domain work when both domains have SSL certificates installed. A domain used only for redirecting usually has no certificate, so https:// visitors see a browser error. Redirect Supply issues a certificate for every connected domain automatically.
Do I need to transfer my domain away from Namecheap?
No. Your domain stays registered at Namecheap. You replace a few DNS records so Redirect Supply handles the redirects, and everything else, including renewals, stays where it is. See the DNS setup guide.
Why doesn't Namecheap's redirect work when my DNS is at Cloudflare?
Namecheap's URL redirect record only works with Namecheap's own nameservers: BasicDNS, PremiumDNS, or FreeDNS. If your nameservers point elsewhere, the record is ignored. Redirect Supply works with records added at any DNS provider.
What's the difference between Namecheap's unmasked and masked redirects?
An unmasked redirect sends visitors to the new address and shows it in the browser. A masked redirect loads the destination in a frame under your old domain, which search engines treat with suspicion. For SEO, use a real 301 redirect.
Can Namecheap redirect individual pages to different URLs?
Namecheap's redirect records work per domain or subdomain, not per page. To send /services to /work and /blog/* to /journal/*, you need path-level redirects, which Redirect Supply includes on every paid plan from $6 a month billed yearly.
How do I switch a Namecheap domain to Redirect Supply?
Add your domain in Redirect Supply and copy the records it shows. In Namecheap's Advanced DNS, delete the URL redirect record and any conflicting A, CNAME, or ALIAS records, then add the new ones. Redirects go live once DNS propagates.
