OVHcloud DNS setup
If your domain is registered at OVHcloud, connecting it to Redirect Supply means changing a few records in your OVHcloud DNS zone. Your domain stays at OVHcloud, and your registration and email don’t change. It takes about five minutes, though OVHcloud says changes can take up to a day to spread fully.
Before you start
You need two things ready before you open OVHcloud.
Add the domain in Redirect Supply

Add your domain in Redirect Supply first. Its settings page shows the records you’ll need, including a TXT value that’s unique to your domain. Keep that page open in another tab. This guide covers a root domain like brand.com. If you’re connecting a subdomain like go.brand.com, the DNS setup guide explains the differences.
Check that OVHcloud runs your DNS
You can only edit the DNS zone when your domain uses OVHcloud’s DNS servers. If your domain points to Cloudflare or another provider, add the records there instead. The Cloudflare DNS setup guide covers the most common case.
Open the DNS zone
All the changes in this guide happen on one tab.
Find the DNS zone tab
Sign in to the OVHcloud Control Panel and open the Web Cloud section. Select Domain names, choose your domain, then open the DNS zone tab. Records are listed by sub-domain, type, target and TTL, with an Add an entry button above them.
Records you’ll see there
OVHcloud domains usually come with records for OVHcloud’s own services: an A record on the root domain pointing to web hosting or a parking page, and a record for www. If you’ve used OVHcloud’s redirection, it adds its own records too. Not sure what counts? The conflict table on your domain’s page in Redirect Supply lists every record that blocks the setup.
Clear the way
Before adding anything, remove what’s already pointing your domain elsewhere.
Remove OVHcloud redirection and hosting links
If the domain uses OVHcloud’s redirection, delete it in the domain’s redirection settings. If it’s attached to an OVHcloud web hosting plan, remove it from the plan’s Multisite list. Otherwise OVHcloud may block you from deleting the records it manages.
Delete old root and www records
Open the ⋮ menu on each A record with an empty sub-domain and on any record for www, then choose Delete the entry. Remove any AAAA record on the root domain too. More than one A record on the root domain makes the domain work only some of the time.
Leave email records alone
MX records and email TXT records like SPF or DKIM keep your email working. They don’t affect redirects, so leave them exactly as they are.
Add the Redirect Supply records
You’ll add four records with Add an entry. Leave Sub-domain empty for the root domain, and enter only the prefix for anything else. Keep the default TTL.
Name | Type | Value |
|---|---|---|
www | CNAME | proxy.redirect.supply. |
(leave empty) | A | 188.114.96.9 |
(leave empty) | A | 188.114.97.9 |
_cf-custom-hostname | TXT | Value from your domain’s settings page |
Note: Keep the dot at the end of the CNAME, or OVHcloud adds your domain to it.
Add two A records for the root domain
Select Add an entry, choose A, leave Sub-domain empty, enter 188.114.96.9 as the target, and select Add. Add a second A record with an empty sub-domain and 188.114.97.9.
Add the www CNAME
Add a CNAME entry with Sub-domain www and the target proxy.redirect.supply., with a dot at the end. Without the dot, OVHcloud adds your domain to the end of the target.
Add the TXT record
Add a TXT entry with Sub-domain _cf-custom-hostname and paste the value from your domain’s settings page in Redirect Supply. On some less common domain endings, Redirect Supply also asks for an _acme-challenge TXT record. Add it the same way if you see it.
Check the zone
Each entry is saved when you confirm it. Look over the zone to make sure all four records are there and nothing else is left on the root domain or www. If something goes wrong, View the history of my DNS zone lets you restore an earlier version.
Check the status in Redirect Supply
Once the entries are added, you’re done in OVHcloud.
Check the conflict table

You don’t have to wait to find out if something’s wrong. Your domain’s page in Redirect Supply shows a conflict table with the records currently on your domain. Anything that blocks the setup, like an old hosting record or a redirection record, is flagged there along with what to do about it. Fix those first, and the rest is just waiting.
How long it takes
New records are often picked up within a few hours. OVHcloud says changes can take up to 24 hours to spread fully.
When the domain goes Active

Redirect Supply checks your records automatically. When it finds them, the domain switches to Active and HTTPS is issued on its own, with no extra steps from you. See Domain statuses for what each status means along the way.
OVHcloud-specific issues
Most problems on OVHcloud come from records still tied to hosting or redirection.
OVHcloud won’t let you delete a record
The record belongs to a web hosting plan or redirection. Remove the domain from the plan’s Multisite list or delete the redirection, then delete the record.
The CNAME points to the wrong place
The target is missing its dot at the end, so OVHcloud added your domain to it. Edit the entry and use proxy.redirect.supply..
The OVHcloud hosting page still shows up
An old A record on the root domain still points to hosting. Delete it and check again in a private window after a while.
The domain is stuck on Pending
Open the conflict table on your domain’s page in Redirect Supply. It shows which record is blocking the setup, usually an old hosting record or a redirection record. Remove what it flags and wait. Record conflicts covers the common cases.
