Wix Domains DNS setup
If you bought your domain through Wix, connecting it to Redirect Supply means replacing Wix’s default records with a few of your own in Manage DNS Records. Your domain stays in your Wix account, and your registration and email don’t change. It takes about five minutes, though Wix says changes can take up to 48 hours to spread fully.
Before you start
You need two things ready before you open Wix.
Add the domain in Redirect Supply

Add your domain in Redirect Supply first. Its settings page shows the records you’ll need, including a TXT value that’s unique to your domain. Keep that page open in another tab. This guide covers a root domain like brand.com. If you’re connecting a subdomain like go.brand.com, the DNS setup guide explains the differences.
Check that Wix manages your DNS
Wix only lets you edit DNS for domains that use Wix’s nameservers. If your domain is connected to Wix by pointing, or uses custom nameservers, your records live with another provider, so add them there instead. The Cloudflare DNS setup guide covers the most common case.
Open DNS records in Wix
All the changes in this guide happen on one page.
Find Manage DNS Records
Sign in to Wix and open Domains in your account. Select the Domain Actions icon next to your domain and choose Manage DNS Records. Records are grouped by type, such as A (Host), CNAME (Aliases) and TXT, each with a + Add Record button.
Records you’ll see there
Domains connected to a Wix site come with default A records for the root domain and a CNAME for www, both pointing to Wix. Those use the names Redirect Supply needs. Wix warns that removing them takes your Wix site offline on that domain, which is what you want when the domain should redirect. Not sure what else counts? The conflict table on your domain’s page in Redirect Supply lists every record that blocks the setup.
Clear the way
Before adding anything, remove what’s already pointing your domain elsewhere.
Delete the default A records
In the A (Host) section, select the More Actions icon next to each default A record, choose Delete, and confirm with Delete Record.
Delete the default www CNAME
In the CNAME (Aliases) section, delete the www record that points to Wix the same way. Wix doesn’t allow two records on www, so it has to go before you add Redirect Supply’s.
Leave email records alone
MX records and email TXT records like SPF or DKIM keep your email working. They don’t affect redirects, so leave them exactly as they are.
Add the Redirect Supply records
You’ll add four records with + Add Record. Leave Host Name empty for the root domain. That’s how Wix enters @. For anything else, enter only the prefix. Keep the default TTL.
Name | Type | Value |
|---|---|---|
www | CNAME | proxy.redirect.supply |
(leave empty) | A | 188.114.96.9 |
(leave empty) | A | 188.114.97.9 |
_cf-custom-hostname | TXT | Value from your domain’s settings page |
Note: Select Save, then Save Changes in the pop-up, for each record.
Add two A records for the root domain
In A (Host), select + Add Record, leave Host Name empty, enter 188.114.96.9 as the value, and select Save, then Save Changes. Add a second A record with an empty host name and 188.114.97.9.
Add the www CNAME
In CNAME (Aliases), select + Add Record, enter www as the host name and proxy.redirect.supply as the value. Select Save, then Save Changes.
Add the TXT record
In TXT, select + Add Record, enter _cf-custom-hostname as the host name, and paste the value from your domain’s settings page in Redirect Supply. Select Save, then Save Changes. On some less common domain endings, Redirect Supply also asks for an _acme-challenge TXT record. Add it the same way if you see it.
Check the list
Wix only applies a record after Save Changes in the pop-up. Look over each section to make sure all four records are there and nothing still points to Wix on the root domain or www.
Check the status in Redirect Supply
Once the records are saved, you’re done in Wix.
Check the conflict table

You don’t have to wait to find out if something’s wrong. Your domain’s page in Redirect Supply shows a conflict table with the records currently on your domain. Anything that blocks the setup, like a leftover Wix A record or www CNAME, is flagged there along with what to do about it. Fix those first, and the rest is just waiting.
How long it takes
New records are often picked up within a few hours. Wix says changes can take up to 48 hours, and some visitors may see the old site until then.
When the domain goes Active

Redirect Supply checks your records automatically. When it finds them, the domain switches to Active and HTTPS is issued on its own, with no extra steps from you. See Domain statuses for what each status means along the way.
Wix-specific issues
Most problems with Wix come from default records or unsaved changes.
The Wix site still loads
A default Wix A record or the www CNAME is still there. Delete it and check again in a private window after a while.
The record didn’t save
Wix needs two clicks: Save in the form, then Save Changes in the pop-up. Add the record again and confirm both.
Manage DNS Records isn’t available
Your domain uses pointing or custom nameservers, so its records live with another provider. Add them there instead.
The domain is stuck on Pending
Open the conflict table on your domain’s page in Redirect Supply. It shows which record is blocking the setup, usually a default Wix record. Remove what it flags and wait. Record conflicts covers the common cases.
