INWX DNS setup
If your domain is registered at INWX, connecting it to Redirect Supply means changing a few DNS entries in the Nameserver section. Your domain stays at INWX, and your registration and email don’t change. It takes about five minutes, and INWX says new entries are usually active within two to three hours.
Before you start
You need two things ready before you open INWX.
Add the domain in Redirect Supply

Add your domain in Redirect Supply first. Its settings page shows the records you’ll need, including a TXT value that’s unique to your domain. Keep that page open in another tab. This guide covers a root domain like brand.de. If you’re connecting a subdomain like go.brand.de, the DNS setup guide explains the differences.
Check that INWX runs your DNS
INWX’s DNS entries only count when your domain uses INWX’s nameservers. If your domain points to Cloudflare or another provider, add the records there instead. The Cloudflare DNS setup guide covers the most common case.
Open your DNS entries
All the changes in this guide happen in one place.
Find the Nameserver section
Sign in to your INWX account and open Nameserver in the left menu. Find your domain and select the eye icon next to it to show its DNS entries. The Add DNS entry button sits in the top right.
Records you’ll see there
New INWX domains usually point to a parking page through entries on the root domain and the wildcard *. If you’ve used forwarding, you’ll also find URL or frame entries there. Anything on the root domain or www is in Redirect Supply’s way. Not sure what counts? The conflict table on your domain’s page in Redirect Supply lists every record that blocks the setup.
Clear the way
Before adding anything, remove what’s already pointing your domain elsewhere.
Remove forwarding entries
Delete any URL or frame forwarding entries on the root domain or www. They’re INWX’s own forwarding and compete with Redirect Supply for the same names.
Remove old root and www records
Delete the A and AAAA entries with an empty name, which are the root domain, and any entry for www. If you already have a CNAME on www, you can edit it instead of deleting it.
Leave email records alone
MX entries and email TXT entries like SPF or DKIM keep your email working. They don’t affect redirects, so leave them exactly as they are.
Add the Redirect Supply records
You’ll add four entries with Add DNS entry. Leave Name empty for the root domain, and enter only the prefix for anything else. Keep the default TTL.
Name | Type | Value |
|---|---|---|
www | CNAME | proxy.redirect.supply |
(leave empty) | A | 188.114.96.9 |
(leave empty) | A | 188.114.97.9 |
_cf-custom-hostname | TXT | Value from your domain’s settings page |
Add two A records for the root domain
Select Add DNS entry, choose A as the type, leave Name empty, enter 188.114.96.9 in Value, and select Save. Add a second A entry with an empty name and 188.114.97.9.
Add the www CNAME
Add an entry with Name www, type CNAME and Value proxy.redirect.supply, then save.
Add the TXT record
Add an entry with Name _cf-custom-hostname, type TXT, and paste the value from your domain’s settings page in Redirect Supply into Value. On some less common domain endings, Redirect Supply also asks for an _acme-challenge TXT record. Add it the same way if you see it.
Check the list
Each entry is saved when you select Save. Look over the list to make sure all four are there and nothing else is left on the root domain or www.
Check the status in Redirect Supply
Once the entries are saved, you’re done in INWX.
Check the conflict table

You don’t have to wait to find out if something’s wrong. Your domain’s page in Redirect Supply shows a conflict table with the records currently on your domain. Anything that blocks the setup, like a parking entry or a forwarding entry, is flagged there along with what to do about it. Fix those first, and the rest is just waiting.
How long it takes
INWX says new entries are usually active within two to three hours.
When the domain goes Active

Redirect Supply checks your records automatically. When it finds them, the domain switches to Active and HTTPS is issued on its own, with no extra steps from you. See Domain statuses for what each status means along the way.
INWX-specific issues
Most problems on INWX come from parking or forwarding entries that are still there.
The domain still shows a parking page
A parking entry is left on the root domain or the wildcard. Delete it and check again in a private window after a while.
The domain still forwards to the old place
A URL or frame forwarding entry is still on the root domain or www. Delete it, then clear your browser cache, because browsers remember redirects.
Records have no effect
Your domain uses nameservers outside INWX. Add the records with the provider your nameservers point to.
The domain is stuck on Pending
Open the conflict table on your domain’s page in Redirect Supply. It shows which record is blocking the setup, usually a parking or forwarding entry. Remove what it flags and give it a few hours. Record conflicts covers the common cases.
