Redirect Supply vs Shopify URL redirects: Wildcards, query strings, and life after Shopify
Shopify's URL redirects are built for stores: up to 100,000 of them, imported and exported as CSV. Each one still covers a single URL, works only once the old page returns a 404, and lives inside your Shopify admin. Redirect Supply adds wildcards that move whole collections in one rule, keeps query strings intact, and keeps every old product link working, even after your store moves.

FAQs
Questions about Shopify redirects and Redirect Supply
Does Shopify support wildcard redirects?
Shopify's URL redirects are set one URL at a time, either individually or by importing a CSV. Redirect Supply supports wildcards, so a rule like /products/* to /shop/* moves an entire catalog at once.
Why isn't my Shopify redirect working?
Shopify only redirects broken URLs, so the old page must return a 404 before the redirect takes effect. If the product or page still exists, delete or rename it first. Fixed Shopify paths, like /apps and /cart, can't be redirected at all. Check any URL with the free redirect tester.
How many redirects can a Shopify store have?
Up to 100,000 URL redirects, or 20,000,000 on Shopify Plus. Redirect Supply includes unlimited path rules on every paid plan, and wildcards often replace thousands of single redirects with one rule.
What happens to my Shopify redirects if I move my store?
They live in the Shopify admin, so they stop applying once the store no longer runs on Shopify. Connect your old domain to Redirect Supply instead, and old product and collection links keep landing on their new pages. See keep SEO intact.
Do Shopify redirects keep UTM tags and query strings?
Shopify's help center notes that query strings may not work as expected with URL redirects. Redirect Supply keeps query strings by default, so ad and email campaign data reaches your analytics.
Can I move my Shopify redirects into Redirect Supply?
Yes. Export your redirects from Shopify as a CSV, match the columns to Redirect Supply's import format, and import the file. Look for groups of similar URLs while you're at it: one wildcard can often replace hundreds of rows.
