Updates. What’s new

New features, improvements and fixes in Redirect Supply. Shipped and written down as they happen.

Redirect checker for Chrome

You can now check redirects without leaving the page you're on. The Redirect checker extension for Chrome shows every hop between the URL you opened and the page that finally loaded.

Click the icon and you get the full chain: status codes, the URL at each step and how many hops it took.

  • Every hop in the chain, in order

  • Status code for each step, from 301 and 302 to 307 and 308

  • Chains that are longer than they should be, and loops

It's free and doesn't need an account.

QR code generator

The QR code generator is live! Paste a link, style the code and download it as PNG or SVG. No sign up, no watermark.

Change the dot and corner style, pick colours, make the background transparent or put your logo in the middle. Error correction adjusts so the code still scans with a logo on top.

  • Codes never expire, because the link is stored in the code itself

  • SVG for print, PNG for everything else

  • We never store what's inside your code or the logo you upload

Conflicting DNS records, flagged when you add a domain

When you add a domain in the app, we now check its current DNS and show any records that would get in the way of your redirect.

The most common one is an old A record left over from a previous host. With two A records on the same domain, visitors get sent to either one at random, and the redirect works only sometimes. Now you see it before it causes trouble.

What the conflict table shows

  • Records that clash with the ones Redirect Supply needs, like old A, AAAA or www CNAME records

  • Which ones to remove at your registrar

  • Records you should keep, like MX for your email

Not sure where to make the change? Our registrar guides show the exact screens.

DNS checker and DNS lookup

Two new free tools for the part of a redirect setup that usually goes wrong: DNS.

DNS checker

The DNS checker asks resolvers around the world what they see for your domain. If some still show the old records, your change hasn't spread everywhere yet, and you know to wait instead of changing things again.

DNS lookup

DNS lookup shows every record a domain has right now: A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT and NS. Handy for checking what's there before you change anything, and for spotting leftovers from an old host.

Redirect tester

Our first free tool. The redirect tester follows any URL to the end and shows you every hop on the way.

You see the status code and address at each step, so it's easy to spot a 302 that should be a 301, an extra hop through http:// or a chain that's longer than it needs to be.

  • Every hop in order, with its status code

  • Test http://, https:// or both at once

  • Catches redirect loops before your visitors do

It works for any website, not only domains connected to Redirect Supply.

Redirect Supply is live!

Redirect Supply is out. It redirects domains and URLs at the DNS level, so you don't need hosting, a server or a website on the old domain to keep its links working.

Add a domain, point a few DNS records at us and create your rules. We take care of the rest.
